What does it mean to be a spiritual hero?

Hi, welcome to this new blog! I am so glad you have decided to join me on the quest to become a spiritual hero. OK... I know what you are thinking.... a hero, really? Yes, a hero...really!

One of my mentors in the Spiritual Path, Joseph Campbell, once wrote that a hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself. As people on the pathway to become Spiritual Heroes, we seek to give ourselves to Something or Someone bigger than ourselves. It is an exciting and sometimes frightening journey.

Please note that this is a Spiritual journey and not a Religious one. Eckart Tolle stated, "You can have religion with spirituality. You can also have religion without spirituality." We are seeking to live the spiritual everyday in all aspects of life. This site is not affiliated with any particular religious beliefs or group. It has been said that Religion is for people who are scared to go to hell. Spirituality is for people who have already been there. Religion defines parameters on the journey, while spirituality opens us up to the possibilities that Something or Someone greater has to offer us. I advocate that one takes a pragmatic approach to religion. Keep all of your religious background that leads you closer to your goals of being loving and spiritual and reject anything from it that hinders you in the pursuit of that goal.

We will learn many things about ourselves as we journey together and discover more about ourselves than ever before. The good news: Many people have made this journey before us. The bad news: we cannot walk their pathway. Each of us must make his or her way in this journey. Another bit of good news is that we have each of us for support as we make our way along the pathway we have chosen. We are not alone.

I am excited about this journey and I hope that you are as well. We will live, learn, walk and grow as individuals but also as a community as we support and love one another along the pathway.
